During a recent guest appearance on Shin Dong Yup's YouTube channel, former SISTAR member Soyou opened up about her past struggles with severe panic disorder.
The revelation came during the show aired on May 13 KST, where Soyou shared intimate details of her battle with panic attacks.
Soyou recalled the challenging times she faced while managing panic attacks amidst her hectic schedule in the past.
She confessed, "I suffered from really severe panic attacks. I barely remember anything about the 'Lean on Me' promotions. It's all a blur because I was heavily reliant on medication."
Her honest admission sheds light on the toll that mental health struggles can take, even on individuals in the public eye.
Despite the hardships she endured, Soyou also discussed her journey towards recovery and her current coping mechanisms for stress. She emphasized the importance of finding joy in life, stating:
"Nowadays, I focus on having fun. I make it a point to go on a trip at least once a year. When I travel, I let go of all my worries and just enjoy myself."
Her approach highlights the significance of self-care and prioritizing mental well-being. Soyou's openness about her past struggles with panic disorder serves as a reminder of the importance of destigmatizing mental health issues and promoting open discussions.
By sharing her experiences, she encourages others to seek help and support if they are facing similar challenges.
Soyou, a former member of the K-pop group SISTAR, recently shared on a variety show how the group struggled to make friends after their debut due to rumors about their personalities and behavior.
These rumors, fueled by industry seniors and exaggerated over time, made Soyou fear people's perceptions of her, leading her to avoid making new friends for several years. Despite the rumors, her peers reassured her that her true personality didn't match the negative image portrayed.
