Amid the legal battle between EXO-CBX (Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin) with SM Entertainment, Korean netizens are discussing whether it is possible for the group to come back without the three members.
On June 27, 2024, a post titled "Male idol group that still maintains their balance even after seven out of 12 members left the group" was uploaded to TheQoo, one of the most well-known South Korean online community forums.

The post, mentions the members of EXO that are still under SM Entertainment and do not have any feuds with the agency. It also listed their positions. The list reads,
- Suho - Leader, lead vocalist
- D.O - Main vocal
- Kai - Main dancer, center
- Chanyeol - Main rapper
- Sehun - Lead dancer, lead rapper, maknae
It was noted that even though the majority of the line-up is not present, all the major positions remain: the leader and the maknae, as well as the the main vocal, lead vocal, main dancer, main rapper, and lead rapper. Therefore, they would not falter in terms of performance despite the lack of members.
Korean netizens who saw the post expressed their desire for EXO to have a comeback with this line-up. It was noted that this was basically EXO-K's original line-up, except for the fact that Baekhyun is not in the line-up. Therefore, this line-up is not foreign to Korean netizens.
Others noted how amazing it is that there is no gap in positions despite the fact that so many members are missing from the line-up.
