Korean news outlets reported that Jennie had obtained the trademark rights for her English name. Meanwhile, in a community post, BLINKs reacted to the BLACKPINK member's update, and speculations were made regarding her future activities.

On August 2, Star News released an exclusive report, which shared that Jennie had obtained her English name's trademark rights.

According to sources, the singer registered the trademark for "Jennie Ruby Jane" in July. The trademark's filing took place at the Korean Intellectual Property Office, in January 2023.

After completing the review, the patent office finalized the decision to register the trademark after a two-month opposition period in April.

Jennie has also studied in New Zealand with the name "Jennie Ruby Jane." When she starred in the American HBO drama "The Idol," which ran from June to July 2023, the BLACKPINK member used "Jennie Ruby Jane" for her stage name.

Jennie's appearance at "The Idol" also marked her first-ever acting gig and eventually, she was invited to the Cannes Film Festival to represent. Meanwhile, her official social media accounts on Instagram and YouTube also use the name "Jennie Ruby Jane."

Furthermore, Jennie's exclusive contract with longtime agency YG Entertainment expired in August 2023. This was followed by the establishment of her own independent label ODD ATELIER, which aimed to focus on her solo endeavors.

However, Jennie still maintains a separate contract with YG Entertainment for BLACKPINK's group activities.

In a forum, K-Netz and international fans reacted to Jennie's trademark registration. Some netizens sent lovely compliments to Jennie's English name, while others speculated that this was an indicator of the idol taking a new business venture outside of music.
