It's time to defend the backyard from the zombies once again! Plants Vs. Zombies 2 has finally reached iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices.

A new free iPhone app is now available. On Thursday, according to The Verge, "Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time" was released by PopCap Games. This free iPhone app is a follow up to the highly-addicting original release version of the game for the Windows and OS X operating system in 2009.

Apple Insider nots, "Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time continues the frantic touch-based tower defense-style gameplay from 2010's iOS port, but adds in new characters, environments and, most for the first time, a "freemium" payment model."

Unlike the first version of Plants Vs Zombies, this sequel is a free-to-download and free-to-play iOS app. Users who will get download this free iPhone app have the option to make in-app purchases to acquire special plants and game currency.

The free iPhone app, Plants Vs Zombies 2: It's About Time is the first major entry after the 2009 title, albeit there were spin-offs released such as the recently released game running on Facebook and a forthcoming shooter game, Garden Warfare.

Unlike the first Plants Vs. Zombies, this sequel moves through different times in the "Pirate Seas," "Ancient Egypt" and The "Wild West" wherein in each world has its own game boards, enemies and defending plants and characters.
