‘Glee’ Season 5 Episode 3 – ‘Finn’s’ Death Remains A Secret; Ryan Murphy Rejects Drug Overdose Scenario

"Glee" Season 5 Episode 3 will focus on the death of Cory Montheith's character on the show, "Finn Hudson". However, the show creator confirmed to Deadline Hollywood that the reason for "Finn's" death will remain a secret.

"Basically, what we're doing in the episode is we are not telling you yet, or maybe not at all, how that character died," Murphy stated.

Recently, it was reported that Murphy is talking with Lea Michele on how the tribute should go on the upcoming "Glee" Season 5. Lea Michele, the late actor's on and off screen partner, wants to use Monteith's death as a way to open up other's eyes on the possible consequence of drug abuse.

However, Murphy confirmed that he rejected the idea of killing the character because of a drug overdose.

Murphy added, "...that was something we had considered. But we have decided that we're not going to have him pass from that," the Glee creator told Deadline Hollywood.

Murphy agreed that this might not be the way people want it. But the creator of the show felt that focusing on the actor's death is "exploitative."

Instead of talking about the death of Finn, the creator further announced that episode 3 would focus on the contributions made by Monteith to the hit Fox show.

"The episode is about a celebration of that character's life," Murphy told the Deadline Hollywood.

The Monteith tribute episode will air on the "Glee" Season 5 Episode 3. The season premiere will start on September 26, Thursday on Fox.
