‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 4 Spoilers: Tyrion Defended By Father Tywin Lannister In Season 3 Deleted Scene, Shows Loyalty To Family, Not Crown [VIDEO]

"Game of Thrones" season 4 won't premiere on HBO until next spring, but a new deleted scene from season 3 may give fans some spoiler hints of what is to come in "Game of Thrones" next season. The deleted scene features Tywin Lannister (Charles Dance), defending his son Tyrion from Grand Maester Pycelle (Julian Glover).

CarterMatt.com describes the scene, which can be watched below. While away from his Hand of the King duties at the palace and enjoying some fishing, Tywin receives a visit from the Maester. Pycelle is hoping to regain his council seat. Tyrion took it away from him, but now that Tyrion is no longer the Hand of the King, Pycelle feels as though there is an opportunity to earn it back from Tywin.

"So many flowers, my lord. Each wanting to grow the tallest, bloom the brightest," Pycelle explains to Tywin. "Then one by one, sooner or later, they all get plucked. I don't want to be the tallest or the brightest. I only want to remain in the garden until my time comes to return to the dirt."

Unfortunately For Pycelle, Tywin does not seem to agree. Despite the differences between himself and his son Tyrion, Tywin strongly believes that if you go against one Lannister, as Pycelle did with Tyrion, you go against them all. Essentially, Tywin says his loyalty lies with the Lannisters and his family, and not with the crown.

Tywin calls the Maester out and says that he is little more than a political power player.

CarterMatt.com reports that it is an important scene regarding trust and allegiances.

"Since the time I convinced the Mad King to open his gates to you, I have served the interests of the house of Lannister unfailingly," Pycelle argues to Tywin, explaining he chose House Lannister because "you have built the strongest house."

This scene may reveal the way Tywin would act should something terrible befall Tyrion; essentially, his allegiance is with his family and his son, and not with the crown, despite his constant disagreements with Tyrion. The scene shows another side to the Hand of the King.

The scene, which was originally shown during "Game of Thrones" San Diego Comic-Con panel, will be released on the Season 3 Blu-ray, Zap2it.com reports.
