‘Game Of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke Picture Used In Russian Anti-Rape Political Campaign Ad Without Permission; Creator Says ‘Sorry,’ Bloggers Call Them 'Lazy'

"Game of Thrones" actress Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen on the series, was featured in a Russian anti-rape campaign advertisement, without her permission. The creator of the ad apologized for the mistake.

Emilia Clarke's picture was used in an anti-rape campaign in Yekaterinburg, Russia, UPI reports. The picture identifies the 26-year-old British actress as 24-year-old "Anya," who now feels safe walking through the streets of Yekaterinburg, supporting the United Russia politician Yakov Silin, according to The Daily Mail.

"I suddenly noticed that for the last couple of years I'm not afraid to walk at night in Yekaterinburg," the ad says. "I now have confidence that the city is safe, that no-one will attack me or rape me."

"It's so cool ... There are only few people on the streets, the streets have lights, the city is fresh and incredibly beautiful. Especially after it has been raining," the ad continues.

The unnamed creator of the ads admitted they used the picture without Clarke's permission, UPI reports.

"We selected a famous and beautiful actress on purpose, to make it clear that this is a fantasy," the creator said. "Next time we will write more clearly. Sorry."

"Our internet post which was a fantasy with a photo of Emilia Clarke, famous for the TV series 'Game of Thrones,' has caused a strange resonance," they continued. "We assure you Daenerys Targaryen, in this case, is just a beautiful woman. We don't claim to have her support, even though we would not be ashamed to show her Yekaterinburg after the implementation of the 'Capital' program."

Bloggers came to the side of Clarke, and were not happy with the campaign, The Daily Mail reports.

One blogger commented: "If you invent Anya, don't be so lazy and dig deeper in the photo-banks or Yandex (a Russian search engine) for some unknown actresses."

Another said: "The fact is that in the first ten pages of Google picture search while looking for "beautiful young girl", "beautiful girls" or "young beauties" certainly gives a lot of photos of Emilia Clarke and Selena Gomez. But United Russia's PR people at least know who Selena Gomez is."

Clarke and her reps have not commented on the advertisement yet.

The shot features Clarke with her natural brown hair, unlike the signature white-blond hair she is known for as her character, Daenerys Targaryen.
