Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Actor David Tennant Loves Matt Smith 'Like A Brother': Anniversary Party To Be Held In London

As the "Doctor Who" 50th Anniversary Special looms ever closer, former Doctor David Tennant took the time to speak on working with Matt Smith and coming home to the series.

"I suppose you'd expect me to say we're new best friends and I love him like a brother, but that is sort of how it was," said Tennant to EW.

"I had a fantastic time and that wouldn't necessarily have been the case. I'm coming back onto a show that's effectively somebody else's show and used to be mine and that's potentially quite a weird situation to be in."

As many "Doctor Who" fans know, the 50th Anniversary will include Matt Smith and Jenna Coleman, the current Doctor and companion, along with David Tennant as the 10th Doctor. Billie Piper will also return, with John Hurt debuting as some iteration of the Doctor we've yet to see.

And while David Tennant has moved on to another BBC show "Broadchurch" post-Doctor, Matt Smith will soon know what it's like, as the actor will make way for the 12th Doctor (Peter Capaldi) once the 50th Anniversary is over.

"Going back to something I knew so well and had such fun memories of might have backfired. It's a quite rare set of circumstances: Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig don't get to play James Bond next to each other. But actually it felt familiar enough that it was like coming home and working with Matt proved to be a real joy," continues Tennant regarding filming for the 50th Anniversary.

"I hope I'm speaking for him when I say we really enjoyed bouncing of each other and playing sort of two aspects of the same character. It was everything that I hoped it might be and nothing that I feared it could be."

And once the "Doctor Who" 50th Anniversary Special arrives November 23, an Anniversary Party will take place in London for all the Whovians in the area!

Organized by Jeremy Bentham, Paula Bentham, and Tony Clark, "The Doc Lands @ 50 Party" will be free to attend in Docklands around 7pm as the 50th Anniversary begins airing.

"The ultimate form of celebration is getting together to share an enthusiasm," said Jeremy to Doctor Who News.

"Doctor Who fans have been sharing their passion for the program since the '70s, but doing it on 23rd November 2013 is definitely the light on top of the police box, and will be a great occasion to don your party hats - fez, Stetson, astrakhan, fedora, Paris Beau, or panama..."
