iPad 5, iPad Mini 2 Release Date: Rumors Say New Device Features Aluminum Shell Casing, New Retina Technology

For many years, Apple's iPad products have earned the reputation of having one of the most durable cases in the industry. However, it seems the company wants to widen the gap between itself and its competitors.

According to Clare Hopping of Know Your Mobile, several alleged pictures of the upcoming iPad 5 and its sibling iPad Mini 2 appeared online and showcased an aluminun casing for better durability.

In spite the aluminum casing, both devices are expected to come out thinner and lighter than their predecessors, which leaves a big question mark as to how Apple can get away with it. Aside from the rumored new cover, the iPad Mini 2 is expected to feature the latest Retina display technology offered developed by the billion-dollar company.

While the latest Retina display innovation has been out since iPad 3 was released a couple of years ago, it was not included in the previous iPad Mini model in order to justify its slightly lower price tag than iPad 4. However, with the increasing demand for smaller devices, consumers are already asking Apple to bump the pixels in order for the device to reach 'Retina' status.

According to the Latino Post, LG, Sharp and Samsung are reportedly working together for Apple's new screen.

Apple has yet to reveal the exact release date of both devices, but we are hoping it will only be a few weeks after the announcement of the new iPhone models on September 10. Just stay tuned for more updates and announcements.
