American Horror Story Coven Actress Sarah Paulson Talks Nudity, Asylum, Emmy Nominations, And Season 3

As "American Horror Story: Coven" continues filming in New Orleans, Sarah Paulson took the time to sit down and talk about the series, the Emmy nominations, and what to expect for season 3.

"No one was beating Jessica Lange," says Paulson regarding being nominated in the same category as her co-star last season. "That was never going to happen."

"American Horror Story" is currently nominated for 16 Emmys, the most nominations of any television series this year.

In talking about "American Horror Story: Asylum," Sarah Paulson opened up about Lana's unexpected journey.

"I had no idea. The first four episodes took me from trying to expose Briarcliff to my conversation therapy scene," marveled Paulson during the LA Times interview.

And in a season that required Paulson to act in a botched abortion scene, caning scene, rape scene, amongst others, Paulson got quite comfortable with exposing herself in every sense of the word.

"There was no time for me to be shy. The makeup people were like, 'Lift up your leg.' And they had to like...clean up all this," gestured Paulson in reference to the bloody coat hanger scene from "Asylum."

But Lana no more, Sarah Paulson is now joining Jessica Lange, Francis Conroy, Denis O'Hare, Taissa Farmiga, Evan Peters, Lily Rabe, Gabourey Sidibe, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, and Patti Lupone for "American Horror Story: Coven."

Paulson will play Cordelia, the daughter of Jessica Lange's character. And Paulson, sporting her blonde hair to match that of Lange's, remained mysterious about season 3.

"There's a little bit of lighter tone [this season]. We're shooting in New Orleans, so there's a real feeling of the place that is part of the show that is very different from ['Asylum']."
