Motorola Moto X Release Date: August 23rd, This Friday, To AT&T; Customized Engraving No Longer Available Due To Quality Concerns

The Motorola Moto X smartphone release date is this Friday, August 23rd, AT&T announced today via CNET. However, the phone will no longer have the option of a customized engraving, due to quality concerns.

According to IGN, the phone is assembled in the United States, and  AT&T customers will exclusively have access on Friday to Motorola's "Moto Maker" software, which is used to customize the phone's external colors and wallpaper, among other options.

One of these options was the ability to engrave the phone with customized words, such as the owner's name. However, The Wall Street Journal reports that the customized engraving option won't be available to consumers when the Moto X goes on sale this Friday, according to The Verge.

The Verge reports that a Motorola spokesperson said that there were some quality issues with the engraving, and that the company hopes to offer that option in the near future, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Customers who choose the standard two-year agreement can get the 16GB Moto X for $199.99 and the 32GB edition for $249.99, CNET reports. Those who go with AT&T's Next installment plan will have to pay an additional $27 per month for the 16GB model and $32 a month for the 32GB version.

The Moto X is equipped with a 4.7-inch 720p display, Motorola's X8 processor, 2GB of RAM, and a 10-megapixel camera. The device will launch with Android 4.2.2, and includes a number of software features like Touchless Controls and Active Display, IGN reports.
