Facebook News Update 2013: Mark Zuckerberg Wants Facebook To Eliminate 'Huge Barriers', Plans To Get World's 5 Billion People Online

Mark Zuckerberg has made the next crucial step in making the Internet available to most of the world's people after establishing a partnership called Internet.org on Wednesday.

Made up of premier companies worldwide which include Nokia, Samsung, Ericsson, Qualcomm, Opera, and MediaTek, the 'organization' aims to create a connected world through the Web. With over 2 billion people currently enjoying the benefits of the World Wide Web, there are at least 5 billion more people who are waiting to get connected and be a part of the Internet's cyber world.

But how are they going to do this?

In a statement released on Wednesday, Facebook said "By reducing the cost and amount of data required for most apps and enabling new business models, Internet.org is focused on enabling the next 4 billion people to come online."

According to Huffington Post, the group also plans to develop cheaper smartphones and use mobile data more efficiently, thus making signals and connections faster and their scope wider.

Javier Olivan, Facebook's vice president on growth and analytics, said the plan of Internet.org is just to continue what the website has already been doing over the past years. Another campaign entitled "Facebook For Every Phone", was started in 2011 which enabled users to get Facebook access even without using a smartphone.
