LG Phone LCD Screen: New LG Screen Is 4 Times More Than 1,280x720 HD Displays, To Be Used For Future Phones

Two decades ago, who would have thought anyone would be able to make calls, play games, and even write a text message using an LCD screen. Indeed, technology has come a long way, and people now are able to enjoy high definition images and crisp colors on their smartphone screens. However, LG Electronics seem to have other things in mind.

On Tuesday, the Korean company has unveiled the world's first Quad HD (2,560x1,440-pixel resolution) smartphone display. According to Cnet, LG said the panel consists of 538 pixels per inch, and measures 5.5 inches and 1.21 millimeters thick, one of the thinnest in the industry.

The manufacturer also boasts the quality and performance that the new Quad HD would bring to smartphones and tablets in the future. LG said the screen can produce Blue-ray-like video quality, clearer images, and sharper contrast than most of today's panels.

"LG Display, which pioneered the high resolution mobile market with introduction of the world's first Full HD smartphone panel in 2012, again opens new possibilities with the successful application of QHD technology," said Byeeong-koo Kim, head of LG Display's IT and Mobile Development Group.

LG's latest innovation is timely news for the manufacturer's future plans. According to LG Communications Executive Dimitar Vulev, the company is also eyeing a number of releases both by the end of the year and at the start of 2014. Some prospect products include another phablet to follow the footsteps of the Optimus View, and Optimus G Pro, some tablets, smartphones powered by Firefox and Windows Phone OS, and a smartwatch to join the current trend.
