iPhone 5S Specs Rumors: Biometrics Can Take Apple Dominance To A New Level, Will Make App Store Purchases More Secure

The newest iPhone model, the 5S is set to be announced on the 10th of September, and is expected to hit the shelves not sooner than the 20th. And as the latest addition to the family, the 5S will have a few tricks up its sleeve to keep Apple fans interested. One of these is the rumored biometrics scanner.

According to rumors, the scanner would be placed on the menu button, and would be the smartphone's main locker that would possibly replace the traditional keypad lockers of old.

For iPhone owners who are always asked of their security codes every five minutes, having a fingerprint scanner built-in their devices would surely be something to look forward to. And that's just talking about convenience.

In the security aspect, biometrics will allow the user to make online purchases through the App Store hassle and worry-free. You don't have to worry about people stealing your personal or credit information. As long as you keep your fingerprints intact (and I'm sure you will), that would not be a problem anymore.

However, if the rumors do come true and Apple pushes through with a biometrics type of security, then it better be top-notch. Setting a fingerprint scanner in a high-end device like the iPhone 5S should be nothing short of 'slow'. If the user needs to wait up until 10 seconds before the device recognizes his fingerprint, then the entire concept would be useless.

People want their phones to be unlocked quickly to avoid any hassle. Apple better take this into consideration. In less than a month, we will find out.
