Prince Harry recently returned from Africa, on what is believed to be a vacation with his girlfriend Cressida Bonas. His secret trip, which included a visit to Angola to see his mother's land mine charity work, was kept secret until it leaked on Twitter.

Harry went to Africa earlier this month to support the efforts of the Halo Trust, his mother's anti-land mine charity, USA Today reports.

We previously reported that Harry, 28, was believed to be joined by his girlfriend, dance student Cressida Bonas, 24, as well as his cousin Princess Eugenie and her boyfriend. Despite the speculation, Prince Harry nor Cressida has confirmed that they went on an African safari in Botswana, USA Today reports.

Harry's trip to Angola was not announced beforehand by Kensington Palace, but instead leaked on Twitter.

The palace was later forced to release a statement on the visit, and called it "private and personal," USA Today reports.

Was it "private and personal" because the trip involved Prince Harry visiting his mother's charity, which she herself visited shortly before her death in a Paris car crash in 1997?

Or was it described this way because it involved Harry's girlfriend, who he has made efforts to keep out of the spotlight?

"He's taking it week by week with Cressy, trying to keep her out of the limelight," a friend said when news of the vacation was leaked, Fashion & Style reports.

"They are very close but Harry is doing all he can not to put her under pressure."

"But Harry is aware that Cressida doesn't enjoy being in the spotlight - it freaks her out a bit," another friend said.

"He's hoping the African trip with friends will enable them to relax and get to know each other better."
