Benedict Cumberbatch Juggles Movies Career, Leaves 'Crimon Peak' By Guillermo Del Toro While Sherlock Season 3 Filming Nears Completion

As Benedict Cumberbatch juggles "Sherlock" season 3 filming and his movies career, the actor is dropping out of Guillermo del Toro film "Crimson Peak."

First reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the film's cast includes Jessica Chastain, Charlie Hunnam, Mia Wasikowska. But with filming to begin in January, Benedict Cumberbatch will no longer be a part of the cast for the horror movie.

Reportedly, Cumberbatch is not leaving the project due to scheduling conflict, but with so many movies coming up, perhaps the actor is looking to have a bit of a break.

So far this year, Benedict Cumberbatch's movies include upcoming "The Fifth Estate" in September, "12 Years a Slave" in October, and "August: Osage County" in December.

Recently, Benedict Cumberbatch has been confirmed to lend his voice to "The Penguins of Madagascar," a spin-off of the lucrative "Madagascar" franchise.

According to BBC America, Benedict Cumberbatch will play an animal CIA agent who is hot on the trails of a baddie, voiced by John Malkovitch.

In addition, Benedict Cumberbatch will share a movie title with fellow "Sherlock" star Martin Freeman as the voice of the dragon Smaug in "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug."

And on top of all these movies, Benedict Cumberbatch is also currently filming "Sherlock" season 3, with the final episode "His Last Vow" expected to finish early September.

"It's great. The second series was weird. Because it was such a phenomenal success, we were a bit distanced from the routine and the inhabiting of those characters. This season, straight into it, comfortable," says Cumberbatch according to EntertainmentWise.

"And [the characters all] immediately fit under our skins. [It's] really hard work because it wouldn't be a good show unless we were trying to evolve it and set ourselves new challenges and standards. But I love it. I'm very fond of playing him. You're in for a treat this series."
