Windows 8 News Update: German IT Experts Say NSA Can Possibly Control Computers With Windows 8

In a publication this week, leaked documents showed which apparently provided information that the United States' National Security Agency has the ability to control computers remotely as long as Windows 8 OS is installed in them.

German publication Zeit Online reported that their officials are worried about the connections between Windows 8 OS and Trusted Platform Modules (TPMs). They say that once Windows powered computers are paired with the latter versions of TPM, TPM 2.0 in 2015, users would not be able to disable it even if they want to.

According to the IT experts, there would be "simply no way to tell what exactly Microsoft does to their system through remote updates." As a result, there would also be "loss of control over [the capabilities of] information technology." The German IT specialists concluded that "the security-oriented principles of 'confidentiality' and 'integrity' are no longer achievable" once TPM 2.0 goes online.

However, the researches said in the report that they would probably be using Windows 7 "until 2020' because it is more secured. If the country would take on its experts' recommendations, then we would expect Germany to use Windows 7 until further research has been made to either disclaim or verify the claims on the report.
