Google Chrome Update 2013: Company Releases Chrome Beta, Allows Search By Image, Welcomes New Gestures On Devices

On Thursday, Google released a new developer version of what it refers to as Chrome 30 beta. The report came two days after it has successfully completed the stable version of Google 28. But what will be in store for us in this upcoming version?

One of  the key features of Chrome 30 beta that has definitely turned heads is the image search tool. Once it goes live and available for download on all platforms and devices, users would be able to search a particular image just by right-clicking on it. An additional option will appear that says 'Search Google for this image', and in just seconds you would be able to find dozens of results based on your image search.

But that's not all. The new Chrome version will also support new gestures for touchscreen devices. Aside from the usual swipe from your screen's edge, additional gestures would now include swiping web address boxes. As a result, you would be able to move 'back' or 'forward' certain pages without the usual swipe, just a small swipe on the top of the screen.

The new Chrome for Android beta also comes with a swipe down feature that lets you switch between tabs easily. Finally, once you swipe down from the menu portion of the toolbar, you can choose the particular tool or option you want without having to lift your finger.

While most of the changes for Chrome are heavily loaded for the Android platform, the image search innovation is certainly a leap forward. For now, the beta edition is still up for polishing, but according to The Next Web, it may be up for grabs by the end of September or first week of October.

Google Chrome is free for download for Windows, Mac, Linux and Android-powered devices.
