Upcoming Android Phones 2013: LG Set To Launch New Flagship Phone Ahead Of Apple In US, Released On Sept. 12

In an attempt to edge leading competitors Samsung and Apple, as well as upcoming releases from Sony and HTC, LG Electronics has announced the launch of its upcoming Android smartphone, LG G2 on September 12, reports says.

The newest smartphone that tech geeks and bloggers can fawn over will hit  the shelves eight days ahead of the rumored release date for Apple's iPhone 5S and 5C.

According to Android Central, the device will launch on two of the leading network carriers in the United States, Verizon (Sept. 12) and AT&T (Sept.13).

For AT&T, pre-orders will be available as early as September 3, and those who would pre-order would receive a free folio case.

The announcement came in as a surprise for both tech reporters and Android fans, as most of them were expecting LG to release its upcoming phone during the Q4 just before the Christmas season. However, we would safely assume that this early release would be a marketing strategy to gain momentum in the market just before the heavyweights arrive near the end of September.

The LG G2 (LG G2 D802 in the UK) will feature a 5.2-inch screen with 1920x1080-pixel resolution, good for HD. The smartphone will also come with Android 4.2.2 Jellybean out of the box, and have a quadcore Snapdragon 800 Qualcomm chipset, clocked at 2.26Ghz.

The newest smartphone from the South Korean manufacturer will also boast 13MP of rear-view camera, 32GB of internal storage, and 2GB of RAM.
