MTV VMAs 2013: One Direction To Beat Miley Cyrus For Best Song Of The Summer Award? Miley ‘Never Wants’ To Be In Same Category As 1D At Video Music Awards ‘Ever Again’ [WATCH]

The MTV VMAs 2013 airs tonight, Sunday, August 25, at 9pm. One Direction and Miley Cyrus are pitted against each other for the Best Song of the Summer award at the MTV Video Music Awards 2013, but Miley isn't hopeful.

"It would be dope. I never want to be in a category with One Direction ever again!" she told MTV News during rehearsals, their website reports.

Miley Cyrus' "We Can't Stop" music video is trailing behind One Direction's "Best Song Ever" music video. Smilers and Directioners, or what fans of Miley and One Direction call themselves, have been voting aggressively for their favorite music video of the summer.

According to MTV News, One Direction's video has more than 6.1 million votes while Miley's video has more than 3.6 million votes cast.

"I'm gonna just put my guard down and not be proud about that. Bitches be cray! They be cray!" she added, MTV News reports. "I think I got lucky with [Zayn Malik] getting engaged. Maybe something will turn. That's like so crazy."

The "Best Song Ever" music video on YouTube already has over 80,000,000 views.

Miley Cyrus is also up for Best Pop Video and Best Female Video awards at the VMAs tonight.

Other nominated videos for Best Song of the Summer award include Selena Gomez's "Come & Get It," Daft Punk's "Get Lucky," Calvin Harris featuring Ellie Goulding's "I Need Your Love" and Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines," according to MTV News.

CapitalFM.com reports that One Direction singer Niall Horan hinted that 1D could still perform at the VMAs, though nothing has been confirmed yet.

"Hopefully we can do something there next week," Horan teased.

One thing we do know for sure is that One Direction will be presenting an award at the 2013 VMAs.

"Yes! A bit of VMAs action! Last year was unbelievable," Niall revealed to Capital FM recently. "We're in the room with some of the biggest stars in the planet," he added.

The VMAs go live from Brooklyn's Barclays Center at 9pm.
