Sherlock Star Martin Freeman Scores Big With 'The World's End' US Release: Actor To Play His Father In Autobiographical Short Film

"Sherlock" season 3 may be finishing up filming with Martin Freeman, but the actor has plenty of film projects to keep himself busy, starting with "The World's End."

The UK comedy film by Simon Pegg opened in the US last weekend, and stars Martin Freeman, Nick Frost, Paddy Considine, Eddie Marsan, and Rosamund Pike.

Currently, "The World's End" starring Martin Freeman is #4 in the box office charts, but it has received rave reviews from critics.

"To my surprise, a diamond has emerged from the gutter. Its name is 'The World's End,' and it'll knock you on your ass from laughing when you're not rubbing your eyes in disbelief," writes Rolling Stone film critic Peter Travers.

"I was sent [the script] when I was in New Zealand...and I read it. Yeah, it's a very funny script," says Martin Freeman on "The World's End"

"I knew Simon would be brilliant in it; it's a brilliant character for Simon. And it's very apparent, as you read it, it really comes off the page what he'll be able to do with it."

In addition to "The World's End," the "Sherlock" actor will play his own father in an autobiographical 15 minute film, according to The Mirror.

Martin Freeman will be a part of a Christmas series by Stuart Murphy called Little Crackers Christmas series.

Currently, Martin Freeman is busy finishing up filming for "Sherlock" season 3 with episode 3, "His Last Vow."
