iPhone 5S Coming To Japan? NTT Docomo Phone Carrier ‘Ready’ For Release, And In Talks With Apple About Date And Timing

The Apple iPhone 5S may be released in Japan, as reports reveal Japan's largest phone carrier NTT Docomo is in talks with Apple about a possible iPhone 5S release date.

According to CNET, Japanese carrier NTT Docomo is in talks with Apple about selling the iPhone 5S, a Docomo executive told a Japanese business daily.

In an interview published Monday, the executive admitted that the iPhone 5S would not be available in Japan on September 10, the rumored release date of the latest Apple phone.

"It would be difficult to start sales on the 10th," said NTT Docomo senior executive vice president Kazuto Tsubouchi, in an interview with Japan's Sankei Shimbun, a major business daily, CNET reports.

The website reports that NTT Docomo has been in talks with Apple over the iPhone since at least 2011.

In the interview, Tsubouchi added that a deal with Apple has yet to be reached due to "a matter of conditions."

"Docomo is ready but timing is the problem," Tsubouchi told the newspaper.

CultOfMac.com reports that Tsubouchi said there is little reason why the iPhone 5S wouldn't come to Japan, at this point.

"There are compelling reasons for Apple and his company to reach an agreement... For Apple, it doesn't make business sense not to allow Japan's largest wireless carrier to sell the iPhone, while DoCoMo wants to be able to sell most popular handsets," he said.

DoCoMo is Japan's largest carrier with over 60 million subscribers, but it still does not offer the iPhone, WallStCheatSheet.com reports.
