Bryan Cranston Role: Cast As Lex Luthor In ‘Man Of Steel’ Sequel, Alongside Ben Affleck? Confirmation May Not Come Until After ‘Breaking Bad’ Ends

Is the newest role for actor Bryan Cranston, star of "Breaking Bad," Lex Luthor in the "Man Of Steel" sequel? Reports are buzzing online, and generally fans are happier with Bryan Cranston's possible role as villain Lex Luthor than they were about Ben Affleck cast as Batman in the highly anticipated film, ABC reports.

According to The Examiner, neither Warner Bros. or Cranston's reps have confirmed any involvement with the "Man of Steel" sequel.

Some outlets claim that no announcement will be made until the series "Breaking Bad" ends -- the AMC show is in its last season -- and that is near the end of September, the website reports.

ABC reports that it is believed that the "Breaking Bad" star has brokered a deal to appear as Luthor in at least six films from Marvel Studios.

Cranston, 57, as Superman's arch nemesis is also drawing more approval from fans of the franchise than the news that Affleck will play Batman, alongside Henry Cavill's Superman, ABC reports.

The Mirror reports that a petition on Change.org has over 67,000 signatures, calling to "remove Ben Affleck as Batman."

Despite fans' hesitation to accept Affleck as the new Batman, Cavill expressed excitement to work with the actor.

"Henry Cavill seen here tells me that he is 'more than excited' working with Ben Affleck the new Batman," BBC presenter Kevin Pamplin recently shared on Twitter, The Inquisitr reports.

Gene Hackman and Kevin Spacey previously portrayed Luthor on the big screen, ABC notes.
