Samsung Galaxy Gear Smartwatch Sept 4 Details Emerge, Specs May Blow Apple iWatch Out Of The Water

The Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch will be a hot-ticket item. A flurry of details and specs have emerged for the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch, set to be released Sept 4.

Samsung is giving the Apple iWatch a run for its money with the new smartwatch. The iWatch may be beaten to the market by Samsung.

The company will unveil the Samsung Galaxy Gear watch on Sept. 4. The watch was called a "concept device" by Samsung's executive vice president of mobile Lee Young-hee.

Few specs have been released, but we know it will have a "non-flexible display".

"The Gear won't have a flexible display. The new device will enhance and enrich the current smart mobile experience in many ways," Lee told the Korea Times. "It will lead a new trend in smart mobile communications. We are confident that the Gear will add meaningful momentum to the mobile industry."

Just like the other tablets and phones in Samsung's Galaxy line, the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch will be powered by Google's Android operating system.

The app-enabled Smartwatch is one in a series from different companies expected to grow by leaps and bounds this year.

More details will emerge on Sept 5, when Samsung will hold a special press conference in Berlin. It will be just before this year's IFA confab. Samsung will also reveal details about  the new Samsung Galaxy Note 3 at IFA.
