'I Have A Dream' Speech 50th Anniversary: Stars Pay Respects On Twitter For Martin Luther King Jr. With ‘#DreamDay’

Today marks the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s famous "I Have A Dream" speech. Stars paid their respects on Twitter for the "I Have A Dream" speech, using the "#DreamDay."

NBC News asked Americans "to share their dreams as the nation celebrates the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington and Martin Luther King Jr.'s iconic 'I Have a Dream' speech," Today reports.

NBC News asked Twitter users to use the #DreamDay and complete the statement: "I Have a dream that..."

Stars from Flo Rida to the Jonas Brothers took to Twitter to remember the speech that had an unforgettable impact on civil rights in the United States, especially for African-Americans who were discriminated against and suffered from segregation. Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave the speech on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 1963, in front of the Lincoln Memorial, to address the crowd of 250,000 gathered on the National Mall.

Flo Rida tweeted: "Let freedom ring #MLK #ihaveadream #50thanniversary"

Model Chrissy Teigen tweeted: "I have a dream that young girls everywhere will know their worth and importance. #DreamDay"

"Today we are remembering #MLK 's dream of equality and kindness, & hope you continue to practice this daily. #dreamday" The Jonas Brothers posted on Twitter.

CeeLo Green wrote: "50 years ago today we made history! glad to see my family at @NBC @todayshow celebrating this historic anniversary in style #DreamDay #MLKJr"

Ivanka Trump tweeted: "I have a dream that educational equality will become a global reality cc: @GirlUp #DreamDay"

"Today" show anchors on NBC also shared their dreams for the day.

Savannah Guthrie tweeted: "I have a dream that in this land of plenty, no one will be hungry. #dreamday @nbcnews @todayshow"

Kathie Lee and Hoda wrote on their Twitter page: "'My dream is that they will find a cure for cancer in my lifetime.' -@hodakotb #DreamDay"
