Samsung Galaxy S3 Update: Rumored Android 4.3 Update For Handset Could Come In As Late As 2014, Clue For Expected Upgrade Retracted

Samsung Galaxy S3 update has been a source of constant frustration for many of its users, thanks to false hopes of an upcoming update. The recent roll-out of Android 4.2.2 lesser known devices has given many Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2 users hope that there is about to come.

But recently, the latest from Samsung officials and affiliates in both the U.K. and Germany is that the S3 will skip the Android 4.2.2 update and go straight to the Android 4.3

Know Your Mobile reported that a spokesperson from Samsung U.K. said that the company “will confirm upgrade plans to Android 4.3 to selected Galaxy devices in the coming months.”

In a review of Android 4.3 for various phones, Gotta Be Mobile said that if in case the Android 4.3 roll out happens, U.S. carriers are expected to not issue a major update until 2014. Although no specific month has been identified, the gradual roll out for the Android 4.3 according to Gotta Be Mobile is rumored to arrive November.

The International Business Times on Tuesday reported that the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for older Samsung devices maybe in jeopardy. The news site said that one of the major clues for the arrival of the update has been removed by its source.

Australian carrier Telstra, who earlier announced that the Android 4.2.2 for Galaxy Note 2 (a batch mate of the S3 handset in terms of release schedule), had been “withdrawn” to give way for a new version has remove the detail from its support page.

The Business Times said that many believed this could be an indication that the Galaxy Note 2, and therefore similar Samsung devices in that category like the S3, potential update to get Android 4.3 might be canceled.

A few months ago, the Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update was very much expected and there have been leaks of the features. Many S3 users were expecting that they were getting the update only to be disappointed that less famous handsets get the recent software upgrade.

Android 4.2.2 has been constantly delayed

The much-awaited Android 4.2.2 has been constantly delayed and could be the reason for the tech giant’s shift of gears on the issue. The expected release date for the latest version of Android’s operating system is a frustrating topic for many Android users and comments have sprung with users expressing their angst on the delay.

User disappointment and impatience on the matter could be key reasons why U.S. carriers like AT&T and Verizon did their own updates. It allowed users to access alternatives.

User James Wadsworth wrote, “Tired of waiting for the update, what is the point, scrap it completely Samsung, your clients are not fools..” Another user, Jerry, said that his “first experience with Samsung” would also be his last.

A user insinuated that since sales of a new phone could be affected by the updates, the delays must be driven by greed.

Speculations last May have suggested that the latest Android OS would be available for the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 in June. News of the delays began spreading when the summer month of June came and went without an update being released by Samsung.
