"The Vampire Diaries" season 5 premieres next week, and now Candice Accola, who plays Caroline Forbes in "The Vampire Diaries," is spilling some new spoilers ahead of the premiere.

Accola talked to CW69 Atlanta about season 5 of "The Vampire Diaries," teasing a "lighter" tone and revealing some spoilers about Tyler, Wetpaint reports.

Candice promised that "The Vampire Diaries" is "more fun" this season, and that we'll get to see our favorite characters having a good time again.

Candice also told ETonline: "Going into season five, it's a little more tongue in cheek, there's a sense of humor [and] lightness to the dialogue, but still a lot of drama in all the episodes."

This probably comes as welcome news to "Vampire Diaries" fans, after season 4 was full of deaths, depression, and drama.

But this doesn't mean all that we love and know about our favorite characters will disappear.

"It's still heavy, it's still a very weighted series, and there's a lot of drama, but I think tonally it's just a little bit lighter," Candice added.

We're pretty sure we can guess one drama for Candice's character Caroline: her relationship with Tyler. The last we heard of him, Klaus told Caroline that Tyler could come back to Mystic Falls, because Klaus was leaving for New Orleans and would no longer try to kill her boyfriend.

"Tyler is now free to return to Mystic Falls. He's your first love. I intend to be your last - however long it takes," Klaus said.

But we know Tyler isn't exactly rushing back to Mystic Falls for some reason - he doesn't even appear in the premiere.

"They definitely care for each other, but we'll see that things have changed," Accola says of Caroline and Tyler. "It does parallel what young relationships go through when they move to college and are in two separate places. You're trying to figure out yourself and your life and your path and trying to meet other people. It's a lot for a relationship to withstand. So, we'll see how long she's able to do that," Accola said.
