iPhone 5C Price: Plastic iPhone Gets Price Cut In China Amid 'Weak Sales'

During Apple's event in September 10 that announced the company's two iPhones, analysts and fans have expressed their disappointment due to the poorly priced iPhone 5C. But now it seems the iPhone 5C price is going down to what analysts have predicted in the first place.

China is the world's biggest smartphone market, with millions of carrier subscribers and phone users. Many thought Apple would price its 'cheaper' iPhone aggressively in this particular region to battle the hordes of local and international Android brands, but they were wrong.

And now, it seems the Cupertino company is now reaping the fruits of its decision.

In a report by Chinese news website Caijing, the iPhone 5C has gotten a huge price cut in the country's largest B2C platform. From 4488 yuan or about $733, the Apple phone is now offered for only 3699 yuan, or about $604.

According to the report, the price cut is the result of 'stagnant' sales. The country's largest B2C website has only sold 45 iPhone 5C devices since its launch last Friday - a far cry to the millions Apple is expecting from the Chinese market.

Though in a report a few weeks back, it seems this is exactly what Apple has in mind when it released the iPhone 5C. Because it is not priced too aggressively and its features are highly identical to that of iPhone 5, consumers would consider getting the more expensive iPhone 5S.
