Amanda Bynes' Mom Drops Conservatorship Bid- But It's Not Because Amanda's Doing Better: UPDATE, Bong Case Postponed

Amanda Bynes' mom is dropping her bid to get a permanent conservatorship...and the bong case may be dropped as well.

However, Amanda's mom not getting conservatorship isn't because Amanda is improving-we're told, sadly, that she's not-or because she's turning her back on her daughter.

Instead, Amanda Bynes' mom already has what she needs to protect her daughter and keep her in the hospital long term, making the conservatorship bid a moot point.

Amanda's mom was supposed to go to court Monday in the conservatorship bit. However, the lawyer announced that they're dropping the case instead. Gerald Shargel also asked for the bong case to be postponed.

Amanda is currently on an LPS hold, and because of this, doctors have more control on Amanda Bynes than her mom would if she was granted a conservatorship.

And, in addition, doctors have agreed to give Amanda's mom the control to make medical and financial decisions for her daughter while she is under the LPS hold.

Amanda may remain at UCLA Medical Center long-term, until as much as 2015, under the hold.  Lawyer Gerald Shargel represented Amanda and asked for requesting a postponement in the bong case while she continues treatment, which may last up to 18 months. The bong case may also be dropped completely.

Was it a good decision for Amanda's mom to drop the conservatorship? Sound off below!
