Melissa Gorga Marital Rape Book Controversy [VIDEO]: "That Word Is Disgusting To Me" As Real Housewife Responds To Blogger Claims About Sexism

Melissa Gorga Marital Rape Book Controversy: Melissa Gorga is dealing with controversy over her new book, which a blogger has said promotes marital rape.

The blog Jezebel quotes many passages from the new Melissa Gorga book, Love Italian Style, which it claims promotes marital rape and sexism.

One of the passages from the Melissa Gorga book that is claimed to promote marital rape was written by Melissa's husband Joe: "Men, I know you think your woman isn't the type who wants to be taken. But trust me, she is. Every girl wants to get her hair pulled once in a while.

"If your wife says "no," turn her around, and rip her clothes off. She wants to be dominated.

"Women don't realize how easy men are. Just give us what we want."

Melissa Gorga describes in the book how sex influences their relationship: "In the beginning, Joe wanted to have sex every single day, at least once, if not twice or three times...If I didn't give it to him once a day, he'd get upset.

"I can do something that pisses him off on a Monday, but if we had sex on Sunday night, it blows over more easily. But if we haven't done it for two days and I give him attitude? It could be a huge fight."

Melissa Gorga has also dealt with charges of sexism over her new book, and she promotes traditional gender roles: "When gender roles are confused, sexual roles are, too. If he's at the sink and then changing diapers, then who throws down in the bed? In our marriage, Joe is always the man, doing masculine things. I'm the woman, and I do the female things, including housework."

Melissa Gorga responded to the critics who say her book promotes marital rape, saying: "That is so awful. That word is like so disgusting to me. That's horrible. It's just about the playfulness, about teasing, it's about 'hmmm, no, I don't want it tonight' but he's going to take it. It's about being aggressive and trying new things in the bedroom. It's not about, 'hey, I have a headache, honey, and I'm not in the mood tonight,' and your husband's going to take it from you. I mean, come on.

"My book is about mutual respect with your partner, for one another. It's about honesty, it's about loyalty, it's about making your partner first in your life. Where that word comes into play, to me, is awful and disgusting."
