‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 4 Spoilers: Daenerys Targaryen ‘Crosses Paths’ With Hizdahr zo Loraq; Why Is He Introduced So Early?

"Game of Thrones" season 4 spoilers reveal that British actor Joel Fry has been cast as Hizdahr zo Loraq, who will interact with Daenerys Targaryen in season 4 of "Game of Thrones." But why is the character Hizdahr zo Loraq being introduced so early in "Game of Thrones," compared to the novels by George R.R. Martin?

Spoiler alert: according to Entertainment Weekly, British actor Joel Fry ("10000 BC") has been cast to play the important role of Hizdahr zo Loraq in season 4. The website describes Joel Fry's character Hizdahr zo Loraq as "a young scion of an ancient Meereenese family who crosses paths with Daenerys Targaryen."

In the "Game of Thrones" HBO series, Daenerys Targaryen has not yet traveled to Meereen yet, but this spoiler reveals that she will be heading there come season 4, Zap2it reports.

Across the Narrow Sea, there are three major Slaver Cities of Slaver's Bay; Daenerys already conquered two of them -- Astapor and Yunkai -- in Season 3, Zap2it reports.

Her next stop in her quest to liberate the slaves is that area, before focusing on retaking Westeros.

So who is Hizdahr zo Loraq?

According to Zap2it, his character tries to manipulate Daenerys as a ruler.

However, his character is introduced into the book series in "A Dance With Dragons" (book five), though season 4 of "Game of Thrones" is largely based on book 4, "A Feast For Crows."

So why is Hizdahr zo Loraq being introduced earlier into the HBO series?

Most likely it's because Daenerys Targaryen is a fan favorite, but she rarely appears in book 4. Producers were probably not keen on leaving Daenerys out of season 4, so they brought her book 5 storyline earlier, therefore introducing Hizdahr in season 4.

"Game of Thrones" Season 4 premieres on HBO in Spring 2014.
