Sam Mikulak, Kyla Ross Qualification Routines [VIDEOS] At The 2013 World Gymnastics Championships: Can They Defeat Kohei Uchimura And Aliya Mustafina?

The 2013 World Gymnastics Championships are officially underway, and Team USA hopefuls Kyla Ross and Sam Mikulak have made it through qualification with solid routines.

On the men's side, 3 of the 4 subdivisions for qualification have finished, and Team USA's newest national champion Sam Mikulak is second only to the Olympic all-around champion Kohei Uchimura.

Uchimura, 24, has a score of 91.924 over Mikulak, who has a score of 89.532. Japan's Kato Ryohei is right behind Mikulak, with 89.474.

Right now, it seems likely that Uchimura will become the first gymnast (male or female) to be a four-time all-around world champion, and the 2013 World Gymnastics Championships is just the beginning of another potential trip to the Olympics in Rio.

As the top eight qualifiers for each apparatus will go into the event final, Team USA's Brandon Wynn has the top score on still rings, while Jake Dalton is fifth on floor exercise. John Orozco, meanwhile, is sixth on parallel bars.

With one more subdivision to go, it seems Mikulak is Team USA Men's team's biggest chance at a medal.

Meanwhile, Kyla Ross has finished her qualification in the first subdivision at the 2013 World Gymnastics Championships. She currently sits at the top with an overall score of 59.198.

However, with three more subdivisions to go featuring the likes of Aliya Mustafina, Lorisa Iordache, Tatiana Nabieva, Yao Jinnan, and Team USA's very own Simone Biles and McKayla Maroney, the competition for all-around will be very hot.
