New HTC Phones 2014: Specs Of Plastic-Clad Smartphone Gets Downgraded, HTC One M8 Ace Expected To Be China-Exclusive

New HTC phones 2014: For the past few weeks, we have been reading reports and rumors that a plastic version of the HTC One M8 is already in the works. In previous reports, the upcoming Android phone will allegedly get almost identical specs to its flagship sibling, with the only major difference the material of choice for the smartphone's body.

However, a new report hints that the HTC One M8 Ace is not actually intended to be a lower high-end phone, but a certified midranger.

In a report by Android Community, an HTC handset dubbed as M8st has recently passed through China's TENAA, the equivalent of the FCC in the Asian country. That only tells us that the handset has already passed certification and would soon push through with the device shipments.

In the images, we see a smartphone that bears the design of the HTC One M8, but gets a plastic version for the design. In previous reports, the choice of plastic will enable HTC to keep the price down at only about $500. Considering that the high-end model costs above $700, that is already a great deal for HTC and Android fans.

However, apparently it is not just the phone body that will be getting a downgrade. In the report, it was also mentioned that the HTC One M8st's display would be slightly smaller at 4.7 inches.

Obviously, the device would not be the One mini 2 as it has already been made official by HTC. On the other hand, it seems that this version of the HTC One M8 will be a dowgraded version, more like the One mini 2 than the flagship model.

This may be a no-brainer, but because the device passed through TENAA, it could be that the One M8 Ace would be exclusive for the Chinese market. It is not the first time that HTC would launch a China-only device so this is certainly a posibility.

But with a pricing that steep ($500), do you think this Android handset would sell well?
