iPhone 6 Rumors: New Apple Phone Will Be Cheaper, Thinner, More Responsive And Durable, Thanks To 'On-Cell' Tech

iPhone 6 rumors: In spite all the rumors and leaks about the upcoming iPhone 6, Apple has continued to keep its mouth shut. And from what we can see, it may all go down to the official release date of the smartphone which would most likely fall in September just like last year.

So while Apple continues to be quiet, another rumor is now making the rounds all over the Web.

According to a report by BGR, G for Games was able to get some insider info from a Chinese media website stating that Innolux sources are stating that the supplier would manufacturer 'touch-on' display panels.

So what's so special about these panels? Well, according to the report, these panels use 'on-cell' touch technology, instead of the 'in-cell' touch tech that is being used by almost all other mobile phone companies today. This means this kind of display would be more touch sensitive because the sensors are located on top of the cell, not within the cell.

Apparently, on-cell tech in display panels would enable manufacturers to construct much thinner smartphones because there will be no addition layer within the screen where touch sensors are located.

In a separate report, on-cell technology would also allow companies to manufacturer higher quality screen panels with better color reproduction, faster screen response, etc.

In the report, such technology would also enable Apple to cut costs in manufacturing the iPhone 6 because less materials would be used to construct the device's screen. In effect, the iPhone 6 could also become the thinnest iPhone yet due to the on-touch tech.

The iPhone 6 is turning out to be the smartphone of the decade, and it has not even launched yet. With a screen size of 4.7 inches, and a bigger version that packs a 5.5-inch display, the Cupertino manufacturer has officially entered the 'big phone wars'.
