The Orioles scored two in the ninth to force extra innings where they added one in the 10th, en route to the victory. 

As Garza has gone this month, so have the Brewers. After starting the season 20-8, the club has gone 10-14 in May. The offense has slowed down in particular, producing five or more runs just four times in the last 13 games -- numbers no doubt influenced by injuries that landed Ryan Braun and Aramis Ramirez on the disabled list, according to MLB.com.

"It hurts, but we've just got to keep going," Garza said. "We've just got to keep fighting and grinding this month. We've got some guys banged up and some guys nursing some things, so we've just got to keep going and keep finding a way."

Starters Wily Peralta and Kyle Lohse each own a sub-3.00 ERA -- 2.12 and 2.92, respectively -- while closer Francisco Rodriguez, despite a blown save on Monday, has converted 17 saves in 19 chances while throwing 30 strikeouts to five walks. Entering Monday, the Brewers staff claimed the sixth-best WHIP in the Majors (1.21) and the seventh-best ERA (3.29).

"You see a team that's leading their division like they are, one of the better teams in the National League, that [pitching] is not all of it but it's certainly a big part there," Showalter said. "They are a challenge from the pitching standpoint first and foremost."
