LG G3 Specs: Pitting LG's Newest Smartphone Against Samsung's Proud Flagship

After it was announced yesterday, a lot of people, especially Android and LG fans already checked the different LG G3 specs which have been in the rumor mill for months. And certainly, no one was disappointed.

In case you missed the unveiling of the LG G3 yesterday, the Android-powered handset certainly packs a punch that can potentially knock out other flagships in the mobile platform. But does that include the equally competent Samsung Galaxy S5?

Design

When the Galaxy S5 was launched, more than a few people were surprised about its perforated design, or as HTC puts it in a tweet, the 'bandaid' look. However, the smartphone is pretty slim and light for its size, which are plus points for the Samsung flagship. On the other hand, the LG G3 looks stunning in spite the polycarbonate plastic for its body, thanks to the metal finish which gives it a more premium look.

Screen

The LG G3 packs a 5.5-inch QHD or 2K display, which boasts a whopping 2,560 x 1440 resolution. That resolution is packed on a True IPS LCD screen, which may not be the best in terms of color production, but it packs some serious pixels. Again, the Galaxy S5 falls short on this one with only a 5.1-inch screen and the staple Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution.

CPU and RAM

Both devices run on Snapdragon 801 chipsets, contrary to rumors that the G3 would get the Snapdragon 805 variant. LG annnounced two versions of its device, one with a 2GB RAM 16GB built-in memory combo, and another with a higher end 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage pairing. The Galaxy S5 will be able to match with the lower end version, but certainly not the 3GB edition.

Features

The LG G3 comes with a laser sensor at the back that is said to help the camera focus much faster. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S5 has a water resistant body. As far as this section goes, it would be all about customer preference.

Verdict

The LG G3 easily beats the Galaxy S5 in the display and design categories, thanks to the QHD display and metallic paintjob. On the other hand, Samsung still has something to say when it comes to its higher spec'd 16MP shooter compared to the 13MP camera of the LG flagship.
