Samsung Galaxy S5 Active Design Highlighted In Leaked Press Images, Specs Include 5.2" Display, Snapdragon 801, 16MP Shooter

The Samsung Galaxy S5 Active is said to be the identical twin brother of the Galaxy S5 in terms of specs based on earlier reports. However, as far as design and build goes, the S5 Active appears to be a much more durable device.

According to a report by GSM Arena, several leaked images of the upcoming handset have appeared on Twitter via notorious leakster EV Leaks. Based on the images, the particular model snapped looks like it will be headed to AT&T soon.

Aside from the 'generic' design of the front where the Super AMOLED display is located, together with three hardware buttons, there is not much to brag about the Galaxy S5 Active. But wait until you see its back.

At the back, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active transforms into a battle-ready smartphone with its thick plastic cover at the sides, and a metal-like surface which appears screwed on its back. In the image above, you will notice that each of the smartphone's four corners have thicker plastic covers to protect the device from falls.

Now that we see what the Galaxy S5 Active is all about from the outside, let us now check its specs. Like the Galaxy S5 flagship, the S5 Active packs a 5.2-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, a quad-core CPU running at 2.5GHZ, a Snapdragon 801 chipset, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory.

Also on board is a microSD card slot for memory expansion, a hefty 2,800mAh battery to power the entire device, and Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat out of the box.

On the camera side, the Galaxy S5 packs an identical 16MP shooter at the back, though a previous GSM Arena report showed how it differs from the Galaxy S5's own 16MP camera. In front is a 2MP snapper for selfies and video calls.
