Upcoming Samsung Phones 2014: Korean Tech Giant Finally Announces Rugged Galaxy S5, Headed To AT&T For $715 Off-Contract

A lot of Android fans are always looking out for upcoming Samsung phones for 2014 mainly because it does not only give them more options, but help them choose which Android smartphone to buy among several manufacturers.

For people who have checked on the journey of the Korean company's Galaxy S5 and previous flagships before it, they would not be surprised that Samsung has been working on several devices which bear the 'Galaxy S5' branding.

Several weeks ago, the Galaxy K Zoom (or the Galaxy S5 Zoom) made its way to the market with slightly lower end specs, but with a far superior 20MP camera with advanced OIS or optical image stabilization. The Galaxy S5 mini on the other hand is tipped as a midrange device with a 4.5-inch display with HD resolution, Snapdragon 400 chipset, 1GB RAM and 8MP camera.

Earlier today, after months of waiting, the rugged version of the Galaxy S5 has been officially launched and will be headed to AT&T in the coming weeks. For Android and Samsung fans who have been waiting for the Galaxy S5 Active, you would be able to get it off contract for $715 from AT&T.

People who prefer monthly payments can purchase the Galaxy S5 Active for $200 on a two-year contract.

But what does the new Samsung smartphone have to offer?

In case you have been keeping yourself updated with Galaxy S5 Active rumors, the Android-powered handset packs a 5-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution just like the original Galaxy S5. Also on board are identical specs to the current Samsung flagship, including a 2GB RAM, Snapdragon 801 chipset, quad-core Krait CPU clocked at 2.5GHz, and 16GB of internal memory.

The smartphone comes with a dedicated 'Activity Zone' button on the side, a higher IP67 and MIL-spec 810G certification which would protect the device from water, dust and even drops.
