Apple WWDC 2014: 5 Things To Expect In Next Week's Event

Apple WWDC 2014 is just a few days away, and thousands of fans, developers and analysts are expecting a lot of surprises from the Cupertino manufacturer.

Last year, Apple took off the wraps off of its new MacBook Pro Retina device, the colorful iOS 7, and OS X among others. So before we cover all these events for you in California, here are five things we are expecting to be announced or at least given more details by Apple.

iOS 8

This year, Apple will keep its tradition of releasing a new version of iOS for its iPhone lineup. While we won't expect any drastic changes in design like what the iOS 7 version was last year, there would certainly be a number of new features to keep Apple fans happy and satisfied with their iPhones.

New OS X Version

Like previous years, the WWDC could be the stage for Apple's next OS X version for the MacBook. According to reports by sources all over the Web, the next version of OS, which is dubbed as OS X 10.10, would resemble the iOS more, than its predecessor, OS Mavericks. This is due to the fact that Apple is allegedly planning to unify both the iOS and OS X platforms for all its devices.

MacBook Announcements

Apple's well-loved MacBook lineup usually gets updated during the company's yearly WWDC. Last year, the Cupertino manufacturer announced new MacBooks for 2013. This would still be trend this year, and a lot of people are already waiting for the MacBook Air with Retina Display.

Beats Acquisition

While it may still be too early for Apple to shed light on its buyout of Beats by Dr. Dre, a possible collaboration in terms of audio technology could be unveiled during the company's event next week. Apple and Beats could be working on an audiophile's dream device, though that remains to be seen.

Home Features

In several reports, Apple is reportedly planning on bringing home automation features to all of its devices, which include the iPhone, iPad, and even the MacBook. This system would enable users to turn lights on and off, manage appliances at home, etc.

While we are not expecting Apple to spill the beans regarding its iPhone 6 smartphone, we certainly hope the manufacturer would give us more details about the upcoming device.

Apple's WWDC 2014 event begins next week from June 2 up to 6 in San Francisco, California.
