Google I/O 2014 Rumors: New Nexus Slate Making Its Debut In Search Giant's Upcoming Press Event

It is only a day until May ends, and now begins the countdown and news spills about Google I/O 2014 rumors. For fans of the Android platform, and there are millions of them around the world, this annual event from the search giant should be a must-see.

Aside from the rumored new version of Android, another announcement which could be announced during the event is Google's Nexus 8 device.

Last year, Google unveiled the Nexus 7 device which was developed by Asus. Since then, fans are already awaiting a new version of the pure Android slate. However, several reports from PhoneArena and other tech websites point that the Nexus 8 could be Google's last Nexus device before it launches Android Silver next year.

According to a report by iTechPost, Google posted an image of a tablet in its event website for the I/O event. As seen in the image, the device's bezels are too big to assume that it was developed by LG.

In previous reports, the Nexus 8 development would be handled by HTC instead, and would sport superior specs compared to previous generations of the device.

And if earlier Nexus slates and phones were designed for the mass market, the Nexus 8 will reportedly get a premium design, spec sheet, and ultimately, price tag.

It looks like Google wants its final Nexus device to make a grand exit in the Android and mobile world competition. It is certainly sad that the well-loved Nexus family would be gone, though it would be soon replaced by the Android Silver project. In the Silver's initial lineup of devices, LG will reportely work on a Snadpragon-powered device, says ChristianToday

While there is certainly a possibility that the final Nexus device would make its debut during Google's I/O event in June, we should still take this rumor with more than a pinch of salt.
