Upcoming Android Phones 2014: Oppo N1 Mini Goes Official, But Entire Spec Sheet Will Be Unavailable Until June 10

We are almost half way through the year, and we have already seen a number of upcoming Android phones in 2014. And it looks like we will still keep on counting with this one coming from the makers of the world's first swivel camera in a smartphone.

If you liked what Oppo did in its N1 smartphone almost a year ago, the Chinese manufacturer has done it again - this time with a slightly smaller version of the device.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the Android-powered handset has been made official in China today. However, it would be strange to think that in spite being announced, no further details have been disclosed aside from those which we already know about the smartphone.

In the report, the Oppo N1 mini will sport a smaller 5-inch display, although by today's standards that is not 'mini' at all. However, if you consider that the original N1 packs a 6-inch display, then the 5-incher Oppo N1 mini is certainly the 'smaller version'.

Other specs which have been revealed include the same 13MP swivel camera that is made up of a 6-element lens by Sony. Similar to the Find 7, the camera of the N1 mini has a Super Zoom mode, but it is only capable of zooming up to 24MP, unlike the 50MP of the Oppo flagship.

Fortunately, the new Oppo handset will launch with Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat out of the box, with the company's Color OS skin on top.

Oppo is slowly becoming a major player in the Android market, especially with the quality and pricing of the devices it launches. A couple of months ago, the Chinese manufacturer unleashed a monster of a phone in the Find 7 with QHD resolution and 3GB RAM. Now, it opted for a midrange device that boasts the well-loved swivel shooter of the original N1.
