Xbox One Halo 5 Release Date Trailer News: ‘Guardians’ Catherine Halsey Antagonist? Popular Character ‘Remains An Enigma’

Catherine Halsey "remains an enigma" and could be featured as the antagonist in the upcoming Halo 5: Guardians release date trailer, DenOfGeek.com writes.

"At the end of Spartan Ops season one, in Jul 'Mdama's company, Halsey wants revenge. Whether she plans to go after Palmer specifically, or the Spartan-IVs, or the UNSC, we don't know. But in the Halo novels Halsey has a clear rivalry with the commander of ONI, Serin Osman, a 'failed' Spartan too damaged by her augmentations to serve. Osman hates Halsey and ordered the attack on her, and Halsey knows it," the website writes.

"Halsey could continue to oppose ONI on her own, behind the scenes, without even Jul 'Mdama's knowledge. Perhaps she would find innocent people, like Lasky, to be more unfortunate sacrifices which have to be made in order for her to focus on her own rivals. Halsey and ONI both believe in helping humanity survive no matter the cost, but John might be caught in the middle of the very different ways they go about it."

Halo 5: Guardians will feature a television series focused on Master Chief and the discovery of his past and future, a developer revealed during a recent interview with the Guardian.

Developers are also going on the record against news reports that leak information about the upcoming game's release date gameplay and trailer, The Inquisitr reports.

"Breaking embargos is not prophecy. Nor does it require any particular skill or insight. Ultimately he is taking or being given information and leaking it, illegally and often erroneously. And he isn't doing it for some noble or worthy reason. He's doing it for attention," 343 Industries' Frank O' Connor posted on NeoGAF, a gaming forum, according to the site.

"People, including nice people with kids and families and stuff, work super hard on this stuff and wake up in the morning to find some of their effort blown up. It's not fun, and for what? So you can have a mildly interesting surprise 8 hours early and lacking context? Or get hyped or disappointed disproportionately? Or get someone fired or someone innocent yelled at? Ok. But it isn't prophecy, nor ultimately even important. It's annoying."

Halo 5: Guardians is expected to be a "huge boost" to Microsoft's Xbox One next-generation console, CNET.com reports, leaving many fans wondering if it will give rival Playstation 4 competition.

"Halo 5: Guardians is a bigger effort than Halo 4," 343 Industries General Manager Bonnie Ross said in a statement, according to the site.

"That applies to the content and scope of the game, as well as the technology in what's now a brand-new and more powerful engine."
