Goonies Sequel 2014: The Goonies, the classic treasure hunting adventure that Richard Donner directed and Steven Spielberg produced adventure story is getting a sequel. It looks like everyone's coming back to The Goon Docks. In the Goon Docks, a bunch of kids found an ancient Spanish map and tracked followed it to a treasure chest of Pirace Booty hoarded by One-Eyed Willie. Goonies starred Corey Feldman, Jonathan Ke Quan, Sean Astin and Kerri Green. 

Rumors about "Goonies 2" have been circulating since the first movie came out. The 1985 film was written by Steven Spielberg and Chris Columbus and was listed as one of the top box office hits of that year. It looks like those rumors are beginning to pan out. Richard Donner, who directed the original Goonies, recently said he wants to reunite Mikey, Brand, Chunk, Data and Mouth for Goonies 2. The Goonies' sequel will find the stars of the first film, now with children of their own, reuniting 20 years later to solve a new mystery.

Astin played Mikey and Feldman played Mouth. Astin says Goonies 2 is is being mapped out by Steven Spielberg, who produced and wrote the story for the original. Astin said "When Steven, who ultimately is the decision-maker on this, when he has felt the magic and he and [Goonies director Richard Donner] are in agreement, which I believe will happen, then it'll be a thing." 

Richard Donner was the director of the original cult movie The Goonies. When asked if Corey Feldman, Sean Astin, Martha Plimpton and Josh Brolin would return, Donner told TMZ "If they have any sense they will. If they don't, they won't." 

Reports say Steven Spielberg wrote a story for the sequel. The Oscar-winning director of "Jaws," "ET" and "Schindler's List, Spielberg was the writer, producer and second unit director on the original Goonies film, which starred Corey Feldman, Josh Brolin, Sean Astin and Martha Plimpton.

Astin said the original screenwriter Chris Columbus would be back in some capacity and that producers are "actively trying to secure a writer based on an outline that they feel really confident about.
