Micromax is known outside India as mainly an Android manufacturer that excels in selling affordable but quality smartphones. And during Microsoft's BUILD conference almost two months ago, the Redmond giant happily announced that Micromax has been added to the platform's list of parner manufacturers. 

At this point of the year, it looks like the first Windows Phone-powered smartphone from Micromax is already nearing completion as its specs and alleged pricing were leaked. 

According to a report by GSM Arena, the smartphone will pack a 5-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset, which may be a bit outdated but still among the fastest in the market today. 

Also on board are 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage with microSD card slot expansion, and Windows Phone 8.1 which features the platform's first real notification center, better homescreen customization, and Cortana voice assistant. 

On the photography side, Micromax and Android fans would be delighted that the Windows Phone handset is rumored to get a 13MP primary camera at the back, and an impressive 5MP front facing camera for high quality selfie shots and hassle-free video call quality. 

In the report, the Micromax WP smartphone will be priced at INR23,000 up to INR25,000 in India, or about $390 up to $425. 

Micromax is slowly becoming a relevant contender in the mobile industry as it has certainly improved its work in terms of smartphone quality and affordability. And while this Windows Phone running handset may be a bit pricey than most of the company's other offerings, it is still pretty tempting considering how much Windows Phone 8.1 has grown in this version. 

Aside from Micromax, other manufacturers which have been listed as WP 8.1 partners include Samsung, Nokia, Sony, Xiaomi and Huawei. With this increasing number of manufacturers working on the Microsoft mobile platform, it would be much more enjoyable for WP fans to choose from a number of device options.
