Steam Machine Release Date: Valve Looking At New Launch Window Set For 2015 For The Gaming Platform; Delay To Further Improve The Controller

Valve announces that the Steam Machine release date will be delayed.

Instead of 2014, Valve said that they are now expecting to launch the Steam Machine in 2015. Accordingly, improving the Steam Controller is the main reason for having a new timeframe for Steam Machine release date.

Explaining the delay of the Steam Machine release date, an update from Steam Community reads:

"We're now using wireless prototype controllers to conduct live playtests, with everyone from industry professionals to die-hard gamers to casual gamers. It's generating a ton of useful feedback, and it means we'll be able to make the controller a lot better. Of course, it's also keeping us pretty busy making all those improvements. Realistically, we're now looking at a release window of 2015, not 2014."

Although the video game developer is also excited to release the Steam Machine, they said that their number one priority to is give the fans the "best gaming experience possible." With this, Valve stated, "We hope you'll be patient with us while we get there. Until then, we'll continue to post updates as we have more stories to share."

Steam Machine, as described on International Business Times, is a "new piece of gaming hardware that seeks to bridge the gap between the PC and the console video game experience in the living room."

Valve's Steam Machine is different from consoles like Xbox One and PS4 because it will be built to different hardware specifications by various manufacturers such as Alienware and Digital Storm. The gaming platform will support almost 3000 games that are currently available via digital download on Steam for PC and other OS.

Gabe Newell, co-founder of Valve and managing director of video game development previously stated, "The first generation Steam Machine offers something for every gamer, which is a critical part of extending Steam into the living room. With over 3,000 games and more than 65 million gamers on Steam, it's important to offer gamers a variety of Steam Machines that allow them to select what makes the most sense for them."

Stay tune for more Steam Machine release date updates in the coming weeks.
