The Hunger Games Exhibition Tour May Become a Theme Park; Mysterious District 13 May House Full-Time Hunger Games

The Hunger Games is going on tour but may end with a home of it's own. There's a district being carved out for them right now, possible the mysterious Disctrict 13.

Lionsgate Entertainment announced that it is launching "The Hunger Games: The Exhibition."  The new exhibition will include displays of costumes, props and other elements of the franchise films.

Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer says the tour is a "state of the art traveling museum."

The Hunger Games Exhibition will feature displays of the props and costumes worn by Katniss Everdeen, Peeta Mellark and Gale Hawthorne, played respectively by Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth.

The exhibit will tour U.S. cities in the summer of 2015, months ahead of the November 20, 2015, worldwide release of the fourth film, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2.

That touring Hunger Games exhibition could be a first move towards a full time Hunger Games theme park.

Lionsgate is teaming with theme-park and location-based entertainment specialist Thinkwell Group for the project.

A Lionsgate Entertainment press release says Jenefer Brown of the Thinkwell Group will help "explore additional theme park attraction and other location-based entertainment opportunities around the world."

In a statement, Lionsgate chief marketing officer Tim Palen said "Now that we've built a critical mass of intellectual property, we're committed to extending our brands into exciting new businesses that create opportunities for our fans to engage with our properties at the same time they deliver significant incremental financial benefits to Lionsgate."

The first two "Hunger Games" films pulled in over $1.5 billion at the worldwide box office.
