Samsung Tizen Phone Finally Launched, Specs Include 4.9" Display, Quad-Core CPU, 2GB RAM, Fingerprint Sensor, Heart Rate Monitor

After years of waiting, the Samsung Tizen phone has finally been launched.

When Samsung announced that it was working its own mobile operating system, more than a handful of experts and analysts raise their brows. And after years of development, the Tizen OS is finally on board a smartphone.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the smartphone has finally been announced and is said to officially be released first in Russia in the third quarter of this year. Hopefully, all other major markets would get their hands on this intriguing phone from the Korean tech giant.

However, if you consider the phone's specs, there is really nothing new, except for the Tizen platform.

Dubbed simply as the Samsung Z, the phone packs a 4.9-inch Super AMOLED display with HD (1280x 720) resoluton, a quad-core CPU clocked at 2.3GHz, a yet unannounced chipset (but we are expecting a Snapdragon 800), and 2GB of RAM.

Also included is a 16GB built in storage, 8MP primary camera and a 2.1MP front cam, microSD card support, and the usual connectivity options such as NFC, LTE, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.

The Samsung phone runs on Tizen OS version 2.2.1 and is powered by a 2,600mAh battery which should be enough to get its user through the day with moderate to slight heavy usage.

Interestingly, Samsung has included the fingerprint button in the Samsung Z for easier access to apps and certain features. Also on board is the heart rate monitor which we first saw in the Galaxy S5 flagship. According to Samsung, the Tizen powered smartphone is able to perform multi-tasking seemlessly, as well as carry out operations smoothly.

On the design aspect, the phone is more on the rectangular side with sharper corners. However, the Korean manufacturer added the faux leather back cover to give it a stylish look.

Have you been waiting for so long for this Tizen-powered smartphone to come out?
