Upcoming Sony Phones 2014: New Teaser Image Could Point To Xperia Z2 Ultra Launch, Packs Super Slim Design

Since it unveiled its Xperia Z2 flagship during the MWC in Barcelona, there has not been much details about upcoming Sony phones in 2014. However, in a new report, it looks like the Japanese manufacturer is already preparing the next generation of its Xperia phablet lineup.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the manufacturer has recently released a teaser image of an upcoming Sony Xperia device.

Sony provided a short caption for the image which says, "Shh... do you want to know a secret? Stay tuned for the next big thing this season" .

If we remember right, Sony unveiled its Xperia Z Ultra phablet in June last year, and it is just fitting to directly take on Apple's new devices (that is if the Cupertino manufacturer does annouce any device this week).

We can also see from the image that the upcoming Xperia branded device is extremely thin. Of course, there is still Sony's trademark glass covers with a metal strip in between to cater to the smartphone's several buttons.

Sony is considered as one of the top four Android OEMs in terms of quality, design and features. However, even during its Sony Ericsson days, the mobile maker has not been that agressive in releasing several devices in the market. And because it is still focused on its home country as well as the EU, fans from other parts of the world would have to wait until the company's handsets finally reaches their local carriers and retailers.

In comparison, the Galaxy S5 from Samsung and HTC's One M8 are already available in dozens of markets already, and they have just been around the same time. Spec-wise, the Sony Xperia Z2 trumps both devices in specs and for some people even design.

However, the slow arrival of the Xperia Z2 in the market was a huge blow to its marketability. We sure hope, this Xperia Z2 Ultra will have a different fate.
