New Samsung Phones 2014: Korean Mobile Maker Announces Biggest Android Phone To Date, Packs 7 Inches With Midrange Specs

If you think Samsung is already contented with its long list of new Samsung phones for 2014, then you are terribly mistaken. And this one would surely be a favorite for people who prefer tablet usage but with a phone's features.

Last week, we saw a leaked image of a 7-inch smartphone which was rumored to be released shortly. It appears that 'shortly' is only a week away.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the Korean tech giant has recently launched its biggest smartphone to date, the Galaxy W.

Packing a whopping 7-inch display, the device looks more like a Galaxy Tab from the back. However, when it you look at it closer, you will notice that the manufacturer has made the bezels much thinner, adding design points to the Galaxy W.

In spite the large screen though, the Samsung Galaxy W is not particularly high-end in nature. In the report, the Android-powered smartphone only packs an HD (1280 x 720) resolution, a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.2GHz, 1.5GB of RAM and a 16GB built in storage.

Other notable specs include a microSD card slot for storage expansion, an 8 megapixel camera at the back, a 2MP front cam for selfies and video calls, and a huge 3,200mAh battery to power the 7-inch display.

Unfortunately, the Samsung Galaxy W only comes with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box instead of Kitkat. We don't know whether Samsung will update the phablet right away, though we sure hope the Korean manufacturer would roll out the update soon.

Aside from the lack of Kit Kat, the Samsung Galaxy W is a solid device that is certainly a must-have for tablet lovers who want to enjoy phone features as well.

In the report, the newly announced Android phablet costs 499,400KRW or about $487 in Korea. The Galaxy W will come in several color options including black, white and red.
