Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime Passes Certification In Korea, Rumored Specs Incl. 5.2" QHD Display, 3GB RAM, Snapdragon 805 Chipset

Immediately days after the launch of Samsung's flagship, rumors have already been rampant that there would be a Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime already under development. In reports for the past few months, this higher-end model would boast much higher specs than the already high-end Galaxy S5.

And now, it looks like we are on the verge of an announcement any time soon.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the monster phone has just been certified in Korea and should now be ready for a launch or announcement this month.

In the report, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime has passed through RRA, the South Korean equivalent of the FCC in the United States. Dubbed as SM-G906, the Android-powered handset would will arrive in three major local carriers in the country, says the Radio Research Agency (RRA).

As of now, all we know about the Galaxy S5 Prime are mere rumors, but in the way the story is going, it looks like the Galaxy S5 is not enough to take on the heavyweights in Samsung's home country. Other high-end smartphones which have recently been announced and should make their way in the Asian nation include Pantech's new flagship, the Oppo Find 7, and the LG G3 which made its debut last week.

Compared to these smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy S5 looks like a midranger with its 5.1-inch display, Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, and 2GB of RAM.

However, once the Galaxy S5 Prime or whatever Samsung wants to call it goes live, it would be the best spec'd device among the company's hundreds of smartphones. Alleged specs for the upcoming device include a 5.2-inch screen with QHD or 2K (2560 x 1440) resolution, 3GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 805 SoC.

Unfortunately there have not been reports whether the Galaxy S5 Prime would hit the international market as well.
